Easy Scalloped Potatoes

Add this traditional side to accompany any family meal

Ingredients 

  • 6 medium sized potatoes.
  • 1 large onion, sliced thinly into rings
  • 4 Tbsp butter or margarine
  • 4 tsp flour
  • 11/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 2 cups milk




Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. In medium saucepan, melt butter. Stir in flour, salt and pepper. Add milk. stir constantly until boiling. Remove from heat.

  3. Peel potatoes and slice thinly. Prepare onion. Layer half of potatoes and onion in 2 quart casserole. Pour half the sauce over and layer the rest and cover with remaining sauce.

  4. Bake covered at 350 degrees for 50 minutes. 

  5. Uncover and bake 15 minutes longer, or until potatoes are tender.






Tips & Variations

Add shredded chedder or jack cheese on top

Add shredded bacon between layers or sprinkle on top
