Field Varieties

Every year, the PGA plants and harvests many approved varieties at our plots at the Crop Diversification Centre in Lethbridge each year. These demonstration plots are part of the PGA’s Annual Field Day where Growers and Industry can observe the different varieties in real conditions. We showcase four of these varieties at the APIA Potato Bar during our Potato Convention & Trade Show each November. The remainder are washed and packaged into 5lb bags and distributed every December along with a list of new recipes. Our recipients include care facilities, shelters, restaurants and local consumers, and they provide feedback on the varieties they were given.
